Potato casserole with mushrooms and cheese

Ingredients for Cooking Potato Casseroles with Mushrooms and Cheese

  1. Butter 7 tablespoons
  2. Vegetable oil 2 tablespoons
  3. Champignon mushrooms 450 grams
  4. Onion 2 pieces
  5. 2 cloves of garlic
  6. Potatoes 5-8 pieces (depending on size)
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Ground black pepper to taste
  9. Fresh parsley 2 bunches
  10. Fat cream 1 cup
  11. Grated hard cheese (preferably parmesan) 1/4 cup

Bakeware, hot pot holders, kitchen knife, cutting board, knife for cleaning vegetables, a frying pan, a spatula, disposable paper towels, a plate.

Cooking potato casseroles with mushrooms and cheese:

Step 1: prepare the mushrooms.

Rinse the champignons, cut off the earthy parts of the legs and dark spots, if any. Dry the mushrooms with disposable paper towels, and then cut them into thin plates.
Heat and melt in a pan 4 tablespoons butter. Then fry chopped mushrooms in it in within 5 minutes. Mushrooms should acquire a light brown color and become softer. Transfer the fried champignons from the pan to the plate.

Step 2: prepare onions and garlic.

Peel onions and garlic, peel and rinse, then chop the vegetables and fry them in the same pan in which mushrooms were cooked a little earlier. Fry the onion with garlic for 3 minutes to transparency and softness. Then mix the vegetables with the fried mushrooms.

Step 3: prepare the potatoes.

Peel the potatoes, rinse with cold running water and cut into thin slices. Then transfer the chopped potatoes to disposable paper towels and dry it.

Step 4: bake potatoes with mushrooms and cheese.

Set the oven to warm up 190 degrees Celsius.
Grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil and lay on it half of all the potatoes that you prepared. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper, add a little chopped parsley.

On top of the potatoes, lay the fried mushrooms with onions and garlic. Salt and pepper again to taste.

On the mushrooms, put the remaining slices of potatoes, pepper, salt and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Put the remaining (3 tablespoons) butter on top of the potatoes.
Send potatoes with mushrooms to bake in a preheated oven on 15-20 minutes.

After 15-20 minutes, remove the baking tray with the casserole, pour in the fat cream and sprinkle with grated cheese. Return back to the oven and continue cooking until the potatoes are soft and loose, which will take about 10-15 minutes. And so that the cheese, and the top of the dish as a whole, does not burn, put the potato casserole on the lower level of the oven.
As soon as the potatoes become loose, you can check it with a fork or a knife, the casserole can be taken out of the oven and served right there.

Step 5: serve the potato casserole with mushrooms and cheese.

Serve the potato casserole immediately after cooking hot. Just cut it into pieces and place on a serving plate. You can decorate with fresh herbs or a slice of tomato, sweet pepper. It turns out a hearty and tasty dish for the whole family.

- You can also put cheese in the middle of the casserole, but it is better to choose mozzarella or cheddar for this.
