Ingredients for the preparation of sliced tomatoes for the winter

Cooking chopped tomatoes for the winter:
Step 1: prepare the tomatoes.
To prepare this preparation, you can take large tomatoes, or unsightly-looking vegetables, the main thing is that they are healthy, strong enough and ripe.
Wash the tomatoes first with warm running water, then let the excess moisture drain and wipe the vegetables with disposable paper towels. After washing, tomatoes need to be cut into medium-sized pieces, almost like a salad. Do not forget to remove from each vegetable a seal that remains in place of the stem.
Step 2: we prepare chopped tomatoes for the winter.
Arrange the pieces of tomatoes in clean glass jars no larger than 1 liter. Fill the dishes on the shoulders.
In a stewpan, prepare the brine by boiling the amount of water you need and adding salt and granulated sugar in it in the indicated proportions. As soon as the water boils, and the salt and sugar dissolve in it, the pouring will be ready, remove it from the heat.
Pour tomatoes in jars with hot brine. Loosely cover the workpieces with lids and put them in a pan with hot water (first put a kitchen towel on its bottom). Sterilize jars of tomatoes for 15 minutes. After tightly close the workpieces with lids and let them cool at room temperature. Clean cooled cans with chopped tomatoes in a dark, cool place.
Attention: You can sterilize jars with blanks in any way convenient for you, and not just the one described in the recipe.
Step 3: serve chopped tomatoes.
Sliced tomatoes harvested for the winter - it's almost a ready-made salad. As soon as you open the jar, all you have to do is add a dressing to taste, for example, vegetable oil or sour cream, crumble the onion and that's it, a wonderful salad is ready. Tomatoes turn out to taste like fresh, therefore such a salad is especially relevant in winter, in the summer we are all tired of a huge pile of various fresh vegetables, we still don’t even know how we will miss them in a couple of months. And how cool it will be to open a jar of harvested tomatoes, because everyone knows that in winter they are tastiest!

- This is a basic recipe, of course, to your taste you can add spices like garlic cloves, bay leaves or hot pepper pods to each jar.
- If you are going to harvest tomatoes in jars of a larger volume than indicated in the recipe, then pasteurization will take longer.
