Beef Stew with Potatoes


Ingredients for Cooking Beef Stew with Potatoes

Cooking Beef Stew with Potatoes:

Step 1: prepare the beef.


Beef must first be thawed, and in any case, do not resort to emergency measures, heating it in the microwave, for example, because then it will give almost all the juices and at the end of cooking will be completely dry.
Rinse the meat thawed at room temperature, cut out all the veins and remove the films. Dry with paper towels, and then cut into small pieces, cubes or straws, a thickness of not more than two centimeters.

Step 2: prepare the onion.


Peel onions, rinse with cold water, and then cut as you like, but not very large, for example, cubes or quarters of rings.

Step 3: prepare the carrots.


Rinse the carrots with special care, because this is a root crop and it is quite natural that there is a lot of dirt and earth on it. And even after you clean it from the skin, rinse the vegetable again. Grate the prepared carrots on a coarse grater.

Step 4: fry and simmer the ingredients.


In a saucepan, heat a small amount of vegetable oil and send onions with carrots to it. Fry for 5-7 minutes, or until pieces of vegetables change color. Add the beef and continue cooking. First, evaporate all the formed water and juice, then, stirring occasionally, fry the meat until golden brown.
As soon as the contents of the saucepan are fried, pour two, maybe a little more, glasses of hot water into it. Bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat so that the liquid boils quietly all the time. Stew beef with vegetables for 2 hours, or less, if you chose veal for cooking. It is also important to monitor the water level throughout the cooking time so that the meat does not burn, if necessary, pour more liquid.

Step 5: prepare the potatoes.


As soon as the stew time comes to an end, take care of the potatoes. It should be peeled and rinsed thoroughly with cold water. After that, the potatoes are cut into medium-sized pieces and lightly dried, laid out on disposable paper towels so that they absorb excess moisture. It’s not necessary to leave slices of vegetable in this form for a long time, 5 minutes will be sufficient.

Step 6: Cook the Braised Beef with Potatoes.


Put the prepared potatoes in a pan to the meat, add spices to taste. Water should reach at least half of the top layer of potatoes. Cover the pan and continue to simmer for 20 minutes. After salt the dish, sprinkle with herbs, fresh or dried, and continue cooking until the potatoes are cooked, that is, approximately 7-10 minutes. Once the right time has passed, remove the pan from the heat and let the dish stand under a closed lid for 5-7 minutesso that it cools slightly.

Step 7: serve beef stew with potatoes.


Serve hot beef stewed with potatoes. To taste, you can add tomato sauce, sour cream or mayonnaise to it, but for me in this dish everything is enough and so. So just sit down quickly at the table and enjoy the taste of a hearty meat dish.

Recipe Tips:

- You can add a little garlic or pods of hot pepper to the beef stew with potatoes.

- In order to make the broth richer and tastier, add a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste or sauce to it.

- Use those spices that you like, but do not go too far with them, mixing several different types, if you are not sure which of them are combined and which are not. Usually a mixture of ground peppers or regular seasoning for meat, which is sold in the store, is enough.
