Making Salsa Sauce:
Step 1: Prepare the ingredients.
There are two options for preparing the ingredients: if you have a food processor or a blender, then slicing does not matter, all the same, the knives will grind the ingredients to the required state; if you have not got these convenient kitchen assistants yet, then onions, tomatoes, peppers and greens should be cut as finely as possible. So, peel the onion and cut into cubes. It turns out very tasty with white onions.
Tomatoes can be pre-peeled, or not peeled if you do not want to mess with it. If you decide to peel, then pre-pour tomatoes with boiling water. Cut them into small pieces and transfer to a bowl of onion.
Peel the garlic clove and grate on a fine grater. You can leave it in a grater so that you don’t wash the extra plate later.
Salsa sauce will not be itself without chili pepper. If you can get jalapeno peppers in fresh or canned form - use it. Its taste is best suited for the sauce, if it does not work out, you can use the usual one, in extreme cases add dry red ground pepper. Cut fresh or canned chili peppers into small pieces, transfer to a plate.
Step 2: Making Salsa Sauce
Preparing the ingredients for the sauce is the longest step in the entire cooking process. Further, a food processor will do everything for you. Use a nozzle with knives. Add prepared tomatoes, onions, garlic and chili to the bowl of the combine.
Add salt, sugar and ground cumin. Cumin or another name for zira is often confused with caraway seeds, but these are two different spices.
Then add canned tomatoes. The sauce can only be prepared with fresh ripe tomatoes, but they must be very red and ripe. Therefore, if there are none, then we take a couple of fresh ones for taste and smell, and canned ones will ensure the correct "tomato" sauce. Canned refers to tomatoes in their own juice, peeled and chopped.
We take half of the lime (thanks to the supermarkets, you can buy it all year round, but lemon is also suitable) and squeeze the juice out of it. It remains to add the cilantro greens, you can not cut it beforehand, but just rinse it well, dry it and tear off the leaves with your hands (if you cook without a combine, then of course you need to cut it).
All ingredients are added, now you need to grind them (or mix finely chopped in a bowl).
The blender will cope with this task in about 10 seconds. There is no need to grind the sauce in mashed potatoes. Try if there is enough salt, do you like the sweet-salty-spicy ratio. If you want, feel free to add sugar or salt to your taste, you can also chili pepper if you are not sharp enough (cut it beforehand and turn on the combine for another 5 seconds). Everything, salsa sauce is ready. Transfer to a suitable container and leave to brew in the refrigerator for about an hour.
Step 3: Serve the salsa sauce.
Serve salsa sauce with fried chicken, meat or fish, barbecue and barbecue. It is well suited to croutons, chips or crackers.
Enjoy your meal!
- Salsa sauce can also be cooked with heat treatment. All chopped ingredients, except greens, transfer to a pan and heat over medium heat for about 5-10 minutes, then add chopped cilantro greens and mix, turn off the heat and let the sauce cool and infuse. The taste of the sauce will be slightly different.
- In the sauce, you can add one or two tablespoons of olive oil.
