Cooking pies with cabbage and meat:

Step 1: Cook the dough.


First of all, in a deep plate, brew dry yeast with water. Important: Prepare and warm the water in advance so that it has time to cool, because the yeast should never be bred in boiling water. Insist all 10 minutesuntil the ingredient has dissolved. Then add sugar to this mixture, beat the egg, salt and half the required amount of wheat flour. Mash the margarine with a fork and also put it on the other ingredients in a plate. Using a whisk or fork, mix the mass until it becomes homogeneous and all the flour lumps break. Stir the mass with the remaining flour. Cover the resulting dough with a kitchen towel and let it rise. It will take about 1 hour, but do not leave the dough unattended, but once a 20-30 minutes open it and knead a little. During that time, while the mass reaches and rises, you just have time to prepare the filling.

Step 2: Prepare the minced meat.


Ground beef must be thawed at room temperature. If you took the purchased stuffing, then for the sake of fidelity you can once again pass it through a meat grinder so that the finished filling in pies turns out to be more tender.

Step 3: Prepare the cabbage.


Rinse the cabbage, not forgetting to get rid of the dried leaves and cut the stump. Shake clean cabbage leaves from excess moisture and lay on a cutting board. To make the filling more tender, chop the vegetable as finely and finely as possible.

Step 4: Prepare the onion.


Divide the onion into two parts, because it is much more convenient to remove the husk from it. After cleaning, crush this ingredient into small cubes. If you have such an opportunity, then you should skip the onion through a meat grinder.

Step 5: Prepare the filling.


Heat the pan and pour minced meat into it. Fry it lightly with a little vegetable oil, stirring constantly. If a lot of liquid is released from your meat, then most of it should be drained.

Add cabbage and onions to the minced meat, do not forget about salt and black pepper. Stew the filling in the pan for 30 minutes. This is best done on medium heat. Remember to occasionally mix the ingredients to avoid burning.
As soon as the cabbage with minced meat is ready, remove it from the heat and let it cool to almost room temperature so as not to burn your hands during further cooking.

Step 6: Form the pies.


Before continuing cooking, prepare the workplace by sprinkling it with a small amount of wheat flour. Divide the prepared dough into about 20 parts. Now take each piece in turn, knead it a little and roll it with a rolling pin. Then put a small amount of cabbage-meat filling on the middle of the workpiece and wrap the edges of the dough to the top, tightly fastening them together. Be careful not to tear the pies in the process, do not be greedy with the filling and make sure that each piece is tightly molded and wrapped.

Step 7: Bake the pies.


Prepare a baking sheet by lubricating it with enough vegetable oil. Put the prepared pies on it with the seam down and let the products rise, leaving them still on 1 hour. Important: put the pies at a certain distance from each other, as they will increase in volume and can simply stick together.
The next step is first of all put the oven to heat up 180 degrees Celsius. When everything is ready, place a baking tray with pies inside and bake them for 25 minutes. During this time, the pastries are covered with a delicious golden crust. Remove the prepared cakes from the oven and grease each with melted butter before removing them from the pan. That's all, it remains only to wait a bit until the finished baking has cooled slightly and you can start serving.

Step 8: Serve the pies with cabbage and meat.


Serve meat pies to the table on a large plate. Offer this dish as an afternoon snack or as a complement to a hot soup or broth. Such pies are also good with warm milk, tea and many other hot drinks. Enjoy the amazing taste of traditional Russian cuisine and the atmosphere of home comfort.

- It is not necessary to use only ground beef, you can replace it with pork or mixed.
