Ingredients for Making a Simple Chicken Salad

Making a simple chicken salad:

Step 1: prepare onions.


Using a knife, peel the onion from the husk and rinse thoroughly under running water. Next, lay out the component on a cutting board and cut it in half. Grind each part with thin half rings and transfer to a small bowl.

Now sprinkle the onion with salt (0.5 teaspoon), sugar, and also pour apple cider vinegar and a glass of hot boiled water. Using a tablespoon, mix everything carefully and leave the onions to marinate for 1 hour Attention: this is the secret to making a delicious salad, because after the component is infused, all the bitterness will leave it. This onion preparation technique can be applied to any dishes when necessary.
After the allotted time, we discard the component on a sieve or colander and leave it aside so that excess liquid from the glass.

Step 2: prepare the chicken fillet.


We thoroughly wash the chicken fillet under running warm water and put it on a cutting board. Using a knife, we clean the meat from cartilage, veins, films and fat.
Now put the component in the middle pan and fill it with ordinary liquid from the tap so that it completely covers the chicken. We put the container on a big fire and cover it with a lid. Attention: when the water begins to boil, foam will appear on its surface. Be sure to remove it with a slotted spoon and throw it into the sink. Immediately after that we reduce the fire and boil the meat for 25-35 minutes (cooking time depends on the size of the piece, the larger it is, the longer it should be in boiling water). Then pierce the chicken with a fork and look. If the equipment easily enters the meat, it means that it is ready and you can turn off the burner. If not, then it’s worthwhile to extend the cooking time for 7-10 minutes.

At the end, we transfer the component to the cutting board and allow to cool to a warm state. After we tear the meat with clean hands into fibers or cut into small cubes using a knife. In any of the options, we shift the chopped chicken into a clean plate and leave it aside for a while.

Step 3: prepare the eggs.


We lay the eggs in a clean medium pan and fill with ordinary cold water so that it completely covers the components. Now put the container on a big fire and wait for the liquid to boil. Next, slightly tighten the burner and boil the eggs for 10 minutes. They should turn out hard-boiled at us.
After the allotted time, turn off the burner, and use the kitchen tacking pot to rearrange the pan into the sink under a stream of cold water. When the eggs become room temperature, peel them with clean hands from the shell.

Now we lay out the components on a cutting board and finely chop the cubes with a knife. Pour the crushed eggs into a free plate.

Step 4: prepare hard cheese.


We spread the cheese on a cutting board and, using a knife, cut into small cubes. By the way, I usually use a coarse grater, but this time I decided to chop the component just on a flat surface using standard equipment. Attention: if it’s so inconvenient for you, do not suffer, but use the method of grinding cheese in the old fashioned way.

Step 5: prepare the parsley.


Wash the parsley well under running water, shake off excess liquid and put it on a cutting board. Using a knife, finely chop the greens and immediately pour it into a clean plate. In fact, this component is not necessary to use in the salad. It serves more to decorate than to give the dish a taste.

Step 6: prepare a simple salad with chicken.


In a medium bowl, spread the chopped boiled chicken, pickled onions, boiled eggs and cheese cubes. To taste, sprinkle the components with salt and season with mayonnaise. Now, using a tablespoon, mix everything thoroughly, but carefully until a homogeneous mass is formed. Everything, a simple chicken salad is ready!

Step 7: serve a simple salad with chicken.


We transfer the ready-made salad from a bowl to a salad bowl or to a special plate, decorate with finely chopped greens, if desired, and serve with the sliced ​​bread to the dinner table. Believe me, this dish is not only very tasty, but also hearty, so nothing special is needed for it.

Recipe Tips:

- such a salad can be stored in the refrigerator in a food container under a tightly closed lid, but not more than two days;

- for cooking use both ordinary onions and white or purple (Crimean). Such varieties are more tender in taste and less bitter;

- so that the salad is salty and without any sweetish flavor, be sure to add hard cheese like Russian, Cheddar, Dutch and others to it at your discretion.
