Charleston, SC's Planters Inn scoops up its signature seafood dish

In the same way that cities and towns have local specialties to try, hotels develop signature items that guests shouldn’t miss — whether it’s a popular room-service dish they’ve perfected, a cocktail named after the hotel’s longtime bartender, or a seasonal specialty that repeat guests always look forward to. These are the things that they love to serve, and that you’ll really consider going back for.

Charleston’s Planters Inn, established in 1844, has the Peninsula Grill, which serves a fusion of Southern comfort and cosmopolitan dishes. Peninsula Grill’s signature is is the jumbo lump crab salad.

What’s in the Jumbo Lump Crab Salad: Jumbo lump crab from Alabama, spinach, heirloom tomatoes, fried green tomatoes, and ginger lime beurre blanc are tossed together in this refreshing signature dish.

Inspiration for the Jumbo Lump Crab Salad: "The sweetness of the crab with the tartness of the fried green tomatoes makes for a combination that pops. It’s very refreshing and light," said Executive Chef Graham Dailey.
